Every copybook template has a source definition. Source definition The source definition describes the copybook members, their corresponding data sets, and how the field definitions are to be arranged in a template. The simplest form of source definition is a single copybook that contains all the record layouts required in their correct form. Single copybook source definitions can be referred to directly and a copybook template is built automatically from them.

This app parses the copybook and provides the below information. This app considers 01 level field as the parent field of the copybook and start position will be one for this field and end position of last field will be end position. If your copybook has multiple 01 level fields then it will consider each 01 level as separate copybook and maintain start and end positions accordingly.
If your copybook has OCCURS clause, then this app will not expand the fields, multiple times, but it will show only one copy of fields and calculates the positions in the multiple of occurring clause.
This app has limitation of editing picture clause if your copybook contains fields with edited picture clauses, then such copybook can not be processed and the result may be wrong. To use this app, you need to type or paste your copybook in the editor then click the Translate button.
While providing your copybook for processing you do not need to remove the mod log or commented lines, this app will take care of those things. If your copybook has some syntax error, this app will not notify them.
We have implemented some checks, but we are assuming that the copybook is error free. After processing the copybook result will be shown in the output text editor. We will be glad to hear your feedback, comments or any enhancement you want to see. Input Required! Support us We rely on donations to keep this site free and running. Will you give today?
